County Clerk Clifford T. Hayes

My wife Jeanne and I have been married since 1977, and our five adult children make us proud. Our family moved to North Idaho in 1982. I served the Post Falls Police department for 26 years in several positions, and I was chief of the department for 22 years. I served three times as Acting City Administrator.

County Clerk responsibilities include:

• the Auditor's office, which handles budgeting, financial oversight & reporting, funds disbursement to all the taxing districts and for the County;


• providing administrative services to the Board of County Commissioners;


• County Welfare, which helps indigents with basic necessities in emergency circumstances;


• the District Court, including jury selection services and other court procedures;


• the Elections department which helps register voters, handles ballot preparation and election administration;


• the Recorder's office, which records & files deeds, marriage licenses and other legal documents.

It's a big job, and one I take very seriously. My goals for our department are to create and sustain exceptionally high levels of customer service, to be accurate in all our transactions, and to have our operations be fully transparent to the public and the taxpayers.
