- A health advisory was issued for Fernan Lake by the Panhandle Health District and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality. Water samples confirmed the presence of blue-green algae that can produce toxins harmful to humans and animals.
All reservation spaces at the MOWRY PARK Docks have been filled for August 5-9. The remaining spaces are first come, first served.

Stage ll Fire Restrictions: As of 7/14/2015, the Idaho Panhandle National Forests will be at Stage II Fire Restrictions. At this level, no fires, campfires, or stove fires are allowed. That means only camp stoves fueled by liquid petroleum or LPG fuels that do not require a chimney or spark arrester will be allowed.
The Department of Parks and Waterways is responsible for the management, development
and maintenance of park and marine facilities owned by Kootenai County and our mission is clear:
"Provide recreational users of our parks and waterways safe, clean and suitable facilities, which best meet
their needs in the most cost-effective way possible."
Kootenai County is the largest boating community in the State of Idaho with nearly 20,000 registered
boaters and just over 44,000 navigable acres for boaters to enjoy.
