Alcohol Beverage Licenses and Catering Permits

The Kootenai County Recorder's office issues Kootenai County Alcohol Beverage Licenses and Idaho Alcohol Beverage Catering Permits. We are located at 451 Government Way in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Hours of operation are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Alcohol Beverage License: One application for Beer, Wine and Liquor

REQUIREMENTS:

Before applying for your County license, you must FIRST obtain your current State license. If you are applying in person, bring your original State license with you. If you are applying by mail, send a copy of your State license with your application and fee. All applications are subject to the approval of the Kootenai County Board of County Commissioners and the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department. Applications for new businesses may be subject to the approval of Kootenai County Community Development if one of the following conditions applies:

1. The establishment is a new business in a new location or building.
2. The establishment is a new business in an existing building, even if the structure was previously used for commercial activities.
3. The establishment is an existing business (renewal), but is in a new location.

FEES:

Draft Beer (fee includes bottled and canned beer) - $100 (No county fee for kegs to go)

Bottled/canned beer to be consumed on and/or off premises - $75

Bottled/canned beer to be consumed off premises only (retail stores) - $25 (No county fee for kegs to go)

Liquor - Fee is 25% of what was paid to the State of Idaho, for example:

All fees listed above are for a full year license valid from March 1 of the current year through February 28 of the following year. Fees will be prorated for a license issued after the beginning of the standard fiscal year.

Transfer of Alcohol Beverage License

REQUIREMENTS:

A copy of the State license (issued to the new license holder) and a completed County application.

FEES:

$5 payable to Kootenai County Recorder.

Temporary Beer, Liquor and Wine Licenses

REQUIREMENTS:

The temporary State issued license needs to be brought to the Recorder's Office for signature by the Elected Clerk.


Alcohol Beverage Catering Permit

REQUIREMENTS:

You must have valid licenses from the State and the County.
If you are an out of (Kootenai) county business, please bring a copy of your original State license with you to the Recorder's Office when you apply for the county permit.

FEES:

$20 per day (Limit of 3 consecutive days)

All applications are subject to the approval of the Kootenai County Board of County Commissioners and the Kootenai County Sheriff's Department.
