Idaho Marriage Information
Please call the Recorder's Office at (208) 446-1480 if you have questions. Marriage licenses are issued
9:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday ($31 fee) and Saturdays ($48 fee) from 9:00AM to 2:00PM, except holiday weekends.
The cost of the License includes one mailed certified copy of the license after your wedding.

There is no residency requirement in the State of Idaho to obtain an Idaho Marriage License.
APPROVED PROOF OF AGE DOCUMENTS:
- Certified Copy Of Minor Child's Birth Certificate
- (Birth Certificates allowed for minor marriages only. Adults must have photo identification)
- A Valid (non-expired) Driver's License or State Issued Identification card or
- Passport
A SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IS REQUIRED BY EACH U.S. RESIDENT APPLICANT, PER IDAHO CODE §32-403. For non-U.S. residents, identification must be from the country in which they are a citizen.
If the person does not have a U.S. Social Security Number, they must provide us with a printout from a U.S. Social Security Office
stating that they do not have a US Social Security Number, OR that they have applied for a U.S. Social Security Number.
EXPLANATION OF PREMARITAL AIDS EDUCATION PAMPHLET:
Applicants are given a Premarital HIV/AIDS Education Pamphlet to read. After the pamphlet is read and understood, the applicants sign and
date the certificate and this certificate is then attached to the marriage joint affidavit. The applicants keep the pamphlet.
EXPLANATION OF PARENTAL CONSENT:
Written parental consent of the father, mother or guardian, duly ACKNOWLEDGED and SWORN to before an OFFICER AUTHORIZED TO ADMINISTER OATHS,
is required for marriage licenses to be issued to anyone under the age of 16 and 17. (Deputies in the Recorder's Office and Notary Publics
are authorized to administer oaths). When permission is given by a legal guardian, proof of guardianship must be presented.
(MUST HAVE A CERTIFIED COPY OF THE COURT ORDER APPOINTING THE LEGAL GUARDIAN)

The Recorder's office, where a marriage license is issued, is open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday
and Saturdays from 9:00AM to 2:00PM, except holiday weekends.
NOTE:
Marriage ceremonies need to take place in Idaho if the marriage license was issued in Idaho.
PERSONS WHO MAY NOT MARRY:
Per Idaho Code Title 32-205 & 206, marriages between parents and children, ancestors and descendents of every degree, and between brothers and sisters of the half as well
as the whole blood, and between uncles and nieces, or aunts and nephews, are incestuous, and void from the beginning, whether the relationship
is legitimate or illegitimate. All marriages between first cousins are prohibited.
MARRIAGE LICENSE FEE:
The fee for obtaining a marriage license is $31.00 during the week and $48.00 on Saturdays. CASH ONLY - NO CREDIT/DEBIT CARDS OR CHECKS.

Please include the names of the bride and groom at the time of the application, and the marriage date. Include $2.00 for each certified copy
requested, and a self-addressed, stamped envelope, or include $1.50 for postage and handling
for return of the copy to you. Any copy requests over 5 copies, please include $3.00 for postage and handling.
Certified marriage license requests submitted on the Internet will not be processed.
