Treasurer
Message from the Treasurer
Welcome to the Treasurer's web page. My name is Tom Malzahn and I was elected as your Treasurer on
November 5, 2002. Prior to that time period I served as the Chief Deputy Treasurer on behalf of the
county for 4 years and 2 years as your appointed Treasurer. I am very honored to have been elected as
your Kootenai County Treasurer. One of my primary goals is to continue the excellent customer service
that has been established in this office.
We will continue to accept your property tax payments either in person at the Administration building
or by mail. Taxes that are mailed must be postmarked by December 20th to avoid any late charges. By statute
we are required to assess late charge and interest if payments are postmarked after the due date. Please
make sure you have your payment to the post office prior to THEIR deadline to be postmarked on time.
Finally, be aware of the following changes that have been made for your convenience in making your tax payments:
We are going to modify our hours of operation. Our normal office hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00PM. Beginning
June 16th through June 20th, our office will be open from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM to allow you to pay your
property taxes in person.
We have made arrangements with US Bank to act as a drop box for the property taxes. The boxes will be
accessible during the bank's regular hours of operation. The bank personnel will not be able to assist you
with any questions. We will have boxes placed in the lobbies at the following locations from December 1st
through December 20th.
302 Sherman Avenue, Coeur d'Alene
6376 N. Hanley, Coeur d'Alene
1603 N. 4th Street, Coeur d'Alene
E. 415 Seltice Way, Post Falls
You may now pay your property taxes on-line with a credit card by
clicking here.
Property tax payments may also be made over the phone by dialing our automated phone# 1-800-601-1078. You
will be asked to provide your "AIN" number which is located in the top-center of your tax bill. A separate
convenience fee will be charged in addition to your property taxes for using this service. This charge is
based on the amount charged to your credit card. Please note there will not be a loss of any revenue to
the County for this service. We also have a computer terminal for your use to pay property taxes set up
in our office.
Once again, it is a pleasure to serve as your Treasurer. I hope these changes will allow you more flexibility to make
your property tax payments. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 208-446-1005.
Sincerely,
Tom Malzahn and Staff
