Property Crime Comparison (UCR SRS Data)

The graph below depicts the property crime rates per 1,000 population for each city and county in Idaho and Spokane, WA based on the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Summary Reporting System per the FBI's Crime in the United States report. Property Crimes include burglaries, larcenies, auto thefts and arsons.  Each law enforcement agency reports separately.  County data does not include crimes in cities that have their own police department.  Those police departments report their own crime data and are listed separately.

According to the FBI Crime in the United States report, Kootenai County over-reported the number of burglaries in 2017.  For comparison purposes, 2016 burglary numbers were used to calculate total property crimes for Kootenai County in 2017.  Also, Bonner and Shoshone Counties (with the exception of the City of Osburg) were not listed in the Crime in the United States report for 2017.  For those counties, 2016 data was also used for comparison purposes only and are noted in the chart below.

Differences between Uniform Crime Reporting Summary Reporting System (SRS) and the National Incident Based Reporting System (NIBRS) are explained here: SRS vs NIBRS
