Current Candidates

The next upcoming election is the March 10, 2020 Presidential Primary.  Kellogg Joint School District #391 will also be having a Supplement Levy question on the March ballot. Here is a list of the Presidential Candidates:

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 is Idaho’s Presidential Primary Election

 The purpose of primary elections in Idaho is to allow members of a recognized political party to select that party’s nominees to go on the general election ballot.

Party affiliation is required for this election and affects what ballot voters will receive. For more information please  and

Party ballots for the Democratic, Republican and Constitution parties will include candidates for:

  • United States President
  • Kellogg Joint School District #391 (where eligible)

Non-Partisan ballots will include Supplemental Levy questions for:

  • Kellogg Joint School District #391 (where eligible)

All voters must go to their designated polling place on Election Day.  To find your polling place location, use the Polling Place look-up tool by clicking  Polls will be open from 8AM to 8PM. 

Early voting will be available at the County Elections Office starting February 24, 2020 through March 6, 2020.  The Elections office is open Monday through Friday from 8AM to 5PM.

The request can be dropped off, mailed or faxed to the Elections Office.  The last day to request a mail-in absentee ballot is February 28, 2020. 

**Candidate Declaration for the upcoming May 19, 2020 State and Local Primary will be from March 2 to March 13, 2020. **

May 19, 2020 Primary Election

Party ballots in Kootenai County will include candidates for:

  • Idaho U.S. Senate Seat
  • Idaho U.S. 1st District Congressional Seat
  • One State Senate seat in each of the County’s 3 Legislative districts
  • Two State Representative seats in each of the County’s 3 Legislative districts
  • Kootenai County Offices for:
  • Commissioner in District 1
  • Commissioner in District 2
  • Prosecuting Attorney  
  • Sheriff
  • Precinct Committeemen

Party ballots will also include all Non-Partisan races and any ballot questions.

Non-Partisan ballots will include Judges and any ballot questions:

  • Idaho Supreme Court Justice
  • Court of Appeals Judge
  • Bonds and/or Levies TBD at a later date
