Personal Property Delinquency

Personal property delinquency is treated differently than real property delinquency in the State of Idaho. By Idaho Code if a piece of personal property is delinquent the Treasurer's office will issue a Warrant of Distraint for the County Sheriff to serve upon the property owner to have the taxes paid. If the taxes remain unpaid, the Sheriff is directed by the Treasurer to seize the property and sell it at an auction for the taxes due. The auction is held after public notice has been given to any party of interest and the property owner usually within 4 weeks of the posting by the Sheriff. If your property is posted by the Sheriff for sale you may either contact the Sheriff's office at 208-446-1300 or the Treasurer's office at 208-446-1005 if you have any questions.
