Collection of Metal Items
These materials are collected at the metal pile just southeast of the Transfer Station building entrance. (View map for location). If you have a small quantity of metal, it can be deposited in the bins available on the Transfer Station floor. Bicycles and lawn mowers go to a separate area to be broken down before recycling in the metals area. BBQ and wood stoves are separated out and processed before going to the metal area as well.
Refrigerators, freezers and air conditioning units must be decommissioned prior to going to the metal area. Residential customers will be directed to the proper area to deposit these units so they can be decommissioned by our staff. Commercial customers must show proof of decommissioning with a completed commercial CFC removal form presented to the inbound scale house attendant before dropping off the unit in the metal area.
