Key Functions
- Voter Registration
- Processes Voter Registrations
- Removes voters from the registered voter rolls who no longer live in Idaho, are deceased, or for any other reason are no longer eligible to vote in Idaho
- Updates Voter Records upon Request from the Voter
- Absentee Voting
- Accepts and processes absentee ballot requests; Properly ensures the Sending, Receiving and Verification of absentee ballots
- Candidate Filing
- Conducts Elections in Kootenai County for over 50 Taxing Districts
- Processes Petitions for all Candidate Filings
- Qualifies Candidates for County offices
- Provides County Candidates with Nomination and Election Certificates
- Election Administration
- Counts all Ballots Cast, Including Absentee-by-Mail, Early Voting, and Election Day Balloting
- Prepares Ballots and Supplies for each Voting Precinct
- Hires and Trains Poll Workers
- Selects, Acquires and Equips Polling Places
- Provides and Oversees an Early Voting Location at the Elections Department prior to each election
- Maintains Elections Equipment
- Maintains Data on Election Results and Voting History
- Publishes Required Election Notifications in the Local Newspaper
- Voting Precincts and Redistricting
- Maintains Voting Precinct Information, including a listing of Streets and Taxing Districts within each Precinct
- Participates in Redistricting, including Voter Precinct and Commissioner District changes
- Other Functions
- Fulfills Public Records Requests
- Manages Storage and Retention for Elections Documents
- Verifies Signature for Initiative and Recall Petitions
- Reviews Online Campaign Finance Reporting for Compliance
